Caption on back: "One of the first women to be appointed First Officer (the WAAC equivalent of captain) in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps was Charity Adams of Columbia, S.C. A former teacher, she has commanded four companies of Auxiliaries at the First WAAC Training Center at Fort Des Moines, Iowa, seeing them through basic training and sending them on to specialist work or to Fort Huachuca, Ariz., to take over non-combat jobs.
