This photo of the Dunbar High School Tigers was taken in October 1946, when the school was located on Davis Avenue. It was later replaced by Central High School. Shown in the photograph are (bottom row, left to right) Levi Magwood, James W. Hollins Jr., Robert Lee McAroy, and Alphonse Harris. In the middle row from left to right are Freddie Smith, Reginald Packer, Melvin Allen, Rufus Hives, Roosevelt Pompey, Cleveland Smoke, and Thomas Moppins. Coach Vernon Gavin is standing on the far left on the top row, next to Leonard Jackson, Louis Burden, Dan Morgan, George Dickinson, Edward Lewis, and Coach Earl P. Battles.
