Description

Photograph taken between 1941 and 1987 of Northampton slave quarters (brick), a one-and-one-half-story brick duplex dwelling built in the early 19th at the Northampton plantation near Largo, Prince George's County, Maryland. One half of the gable roof is covered with metal (left), while the other half is covered with wood shingles (right). For an earlier view of the same structure, see pgjw087. (Editor's note: A comparison of Wilfong's photograph with that taken by John O. Brostrup in 1936 for the Historic American Buildings Survey shows that the building appears to be abandoned in Wilfong's but appears to be lived in in Brostrup's photograph of 1936, thus the date of Wilfong's photograph of circa 1941-1987 (year Wilfong died) and the Coverage (Time Period) of 1941-1990.)
