Description

Sam Shirah's 1963 field reports document his efforts to enlist white southern college students into the civil rights movement day-by-day. He briefly records his reaction to hearing that President Kennedy had been assassinated, and reports on his observation of Hattiesburg, Mississippi's Freedom Day. He also has a summary report of his tireless and exhausting work during the school year 1963-1964.
