The University of North Carolina at Greensboro
Description
The 1976 UNCG yearbook, Pine Needles, shows continued growth and integration of the African American student population. For instance, this appears to be the first year where black students had leadership roles in the Student Government Association and African American cheerleaders. A student essay on the Black Experience is featured (pg 32). Candid photographs show black entertainment on campus with live music and a Black Arts Film Festival, activities of the Neo-Black Society, and involvement of African American students in predominately white student organizations. Sample pages of class portraits show a representative black to white student ratio.
