Wigham, Eliza

Description

Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Eliza Wigham writes to William Lloyd Garrison stating that while it is not necessary to introduce "our trusty and well beloved friend, R[ichard] D[avis] Webb" she is sending Garrison this note "by his hands." Wigham tells Garrison she gave Webb a "large commission of our love & remembrance to hand to" her American friends as he encounters them and she then apologizes for seeing little of Garrison while he was visiting the United Kingdom. She also discusses the death of John Mawson, calling it "a sudden & terrible blow". After running off the fourth page, Wigham continues in the margin to mention the "great changes [that] are taking place in this country" including "a bill for disendowing the established church".
