Sismondi is shocked by the evils of slavery in America, which are a shame to the name of republics. There are also notes on an article entitled "The Nineteenth Century," in which Mrs. Chapman gives an exposition of the principles of George Washington and William Lloyd Garrison. On the second leaf, Maria Weston Chapman took notes by writing an extract from Wells Brown's "Three Years in Europe."
