@ Temple University

Mosley, John W

Photograph inside the Pyramid Club captures Club's co-founder Walter F. Jerrick, M.D. (standing far right) with Dr. J.W. Shirley (standing second right) with a group of visitors from Africa. Among the visiting African trio is Kwame Nkrumah (seated third from right) joined at the table by an unidentified woman and two unidentified men who accompanied Nkrumah on the visit. Kwame Nkrumah, a graduate of Lincoln University, was a prominent figure in Africa's anti-colonial struggle for independence. The Pan-Afican leader successfully led Ghana to independence from Britain in 1957 and served as its first prime minister and president.
