Description

Headquartered at the Department of History at Armstrong Atlantic State University, the Savannah Images Project centers around the collaborative development of an instructional model that uses active learning, collaboration between university and public school faculty, readily available instructional technology, and the coastal region's abundant cultural and community resources. The project encourages teachers and students to investigate coastal Georgia's cultural landscape, while teaching them how to produce data bases of historical images and documents for the Internet. Data bases in this Web site were produced for the most part by students and teachers. Examples include: Fortresses of Savannah; First Baptist Church, Savannah, Georgia; Heritage Tourism--Savannah and the Low Country; Images of Oglethorpe; History of Armstrong Atlantic State University; Methodism in Savannah; The New Deal comes South; Oglethorpe and the Georgia Indians; The Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum; Dr. Roger K. Warlick--Savannah biographies; Society for Industrial Archaeology 28th Annual Conference; Tour of Savannah; Transportation; Tybee Island, WCTU (Women's Christian Temperance Union); The Women of Irene. Data bases include varying information but some types of items generally found are images, essays, biographies, bibliographies, maps, timelines, etc.This Program Is Supported In Part By The Georgia Humanities Council And The National Endowment For The Humanities And Through Appropriations From The Georgia General Assembly.
