Description
The German displays in the Agricultural building at the Louisiana Purchase Exposiition -- the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair -- included an exhibit of artifacts and products from the German East African Protectorate -- now the country of Tanzania. Specimens of such materials as hemp, cotton, coffee, fruit, plants, timber, rubber and ivoryfinished productsoriginal painting of African scenes and animals by Professor Wilhelm Kuhnert of Berlinand African artifacts, such as shields, potttery, musical instruments and beadwork were in the exhibit.
