Bay Area Health Liberation News is the newsletter of the Bay Area Chapter of the Medical Committee for Human Rights. The newsletter is a fascinating chronicle of the different ways in which medical and health science activists intersected with important and pivotal movements for social change around California and even the rest of the country. Included is documentation of early 70s activist interventions on public health, drug use, and the prison system in California; organizing against the American Medical Association; engagement with diseases such as sickle cell anemia and organization of community clinics in the Black community of the Bay Area; and fascinating calls for volunteers amongst a wide variety of organizations such as the Tenderloin Gay Community Clinics, the United Farm Workers during lettuce season, and the George Jackson People's Free Clinic.
