This Civil War envelope serves as an advertisement for the Haines' envelope holder. In addition to the company's advertisement, the envelope depicts images of an American shield, a liberty cap, the Constitution, a bible, and a rattlesnake with the word "secession" drawn on its body and pierced by an arrow.
