Barney's Market Club

Description

Photograph of Charlotta Bass, fourth from the right, enjoying a meal with other members of the Progressive Party. This photograph is framed in a cardboard folder imprinted with the logo and address of Barney's Market Club, 731-741 W. Randolph Street, Chicago. Inside the photo is a handwritten tribute to Bass: "To a lovely lady of the best part of Progressive America, Charlotta Bass." The tribute is signed by the other diners, including Vincent Hallinan, in foreground at right. The photo appears to be taken during the 1952 campaign, when Hallinan and Bass ran for President and Vice President, respectively, on the Progressive Party ticket.
