Hartford NAACP Former President James Patterson discusses his experience with the Hartford NAACP as president in the 1980's. He talks about how they formed an on-call, first responders committee that supported members of the community experiencing emergencies such as police-citizen violence particularly in the North End of Hartford. He mentions figures John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Ella Little Cromwell, Jim Harris, Benjamin Frank Andrews Jr., Wilbur Smith, and Tom Wright.
