Description
Records collected by the Mississippi Sovereignty Commission on the White Citizens' Council in the Southern States. The folder focuses specifically on the chapter in Mississippi, although some mention of the Alabama chapter is included. The folder contains articles, letters, and financial records from the chapters, as well as newsletters and subscription cards from newspapers from around the country. The Mississippi Sovereignty Commission provided funds for the state-wide White Citizens' Council efforts for a period before they were instructed not to do so by state officials.The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
