"Freedom Fountain constructed with funds donated by pupils in the public and parochial schools is dedicated in a ceremony at the garden entrance to the subway concourse at 15th and Market sts. Tossing coin into the water with Mayor Tate are nine-year-old Susan McKennon, of the Cathedral School, and ten-year-old Mark D. Harvey, of the City Center School. Eight-foot bronze sculpture depicts doves being set free and marks the centennial of the Emancipation Proclamation celebrated in 1963."with clipping
