From Dr. Lederer's text: William (Bill) Bland's Shoe Shop on Jefferson Street, opposite the telephone company in Springfield, Missouri, was the last black-owned business downtown. Bill's Shoe Service (cleaning, dyeing, and shining). Left to right: Dexter Bartley, Joe Price, Bill Bland, Leroy Warren. William Bland, owner, is the father of Norma Duncan.
