Mrs. Monteith was a pioneer in speech pathology in the Richland I school district, donor of the Cunningham-Monteith Large Print Center at the Richland County Public Library and sister-in-law of the civil rights activist Modjeska Simkins. In this interview she discusses teaching in Richland School District One, life in Columbia during segregation and the history of the Monteith School in the Eau Claire section of Columbia.
