"In 1856, William H. Randolph laid out a 10-acre tract north of town for use as a public graveyard. Soon called Oakwood Cemetery, it eventually became the final resting place of many Macomb area residents. This photograph shows the headstones of (right to left) William and Sarah Allison and their son Harmon, who lived south of Macomb and were conductors in the Underground Railroad.
