Description
A man, meant to be Jefferson Davis, is on his hands and knees in a mobile circus cage. The cage is enclosed on three sides. The fourth side has bars on it. One of the enclosed sides has the words Southern Lion J.D.\ on it. The side with the bars has the words \Southern Menagerie\ on the top of it. The man in the cage is being poked with a stick by a former slave.\Illustrated Civil War envelopes with patriotic symbols, slogans and cartoons, mostly Northern, including a few Southern ones.
