Marchers are carrying signs that read, "Dear Registrar / Take the Lack Out of Black and Be [--] 6 Days a Week and in the Evenings"; "Give Us Each Day Our Daily Right to Register"; "Let Us Register Now"; "George Wallace Must Go / Register and Vote"; and "Let Us Register Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday Each Week." The 1965-1966 Birmingham voter registration campaign advocated for increased registration hours at the county courthouse and registration in local neighborhoods.
