[Wilson?]), New York."William Eaton writes to Amos A. Phelps that he is physically unable to accept the appointment as an agent of the Anti-slavery Society. He says that he is too old, and that the area is a particularly hard field. He recommends that the society send somebody experienced and powerful for a few months to the area to turn the public opinion. He also mentions J. F. Goodhill as a potential candidate an agent. He then answers Phelpśs inquiry about parishes in the region, and says that a number churches in the southeastern part of the state need pastors. He mentions some opportunities for missionary works as well. Eaton closes the letter by pleading that the people of Vermont need more information on slavery
