View of Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson with the Six Flags Mascot and an unidentified man in downtown Atlanta, Georgia.Maynard Jackson was elected as the first African American mayor of Atlanta, Georgia in 1974. He served three terms, two from 1974-1982 and another from 1990-1994. During his time in office he helped to remodel Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport, which was renamed as Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport after his death in 2003.
