Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.On verso, the letter is addressed to "Mr. Wm Lloyd Garrison Editor of the Liberator Boston (Mass)" and is postmarked with a red, circular stamp reading "Providence Mar 2".Henry Egbert Benson writes to William Lloyd Garrison saying he is "exceedingly rejoiced to hear" that Garrison will visit him soon, promising to "do every thing in our power to make it pleasant and agreeable to you." He also assures Garrison that the list of subscribers he sent to him seems to be correct and suggests "it will be much better to have the money credited to each subscriber than to me." He then lists the names of 9 new subscribers from January and discusses sending money to Garrison for Liberator subscriptions. Benson also insists "we must have an auxiliary" to the New England Anti-Slavery Society in Providence and tells Garrison that if he comes "in April it will be the means of laying a cornerstone for it." Before closing the letter, Benson also mentions a "bundle that was lost" and says he "will still take every pains to find it."
