Description
During the Civil War, James Hall served as a captain in Company K of the 24th Alabama Infantry regiment. In the letter he discusses the return of his servant, who has been away from the company: "I think that by this time Ben is tired of home. Please start him back on the 10th January unless...I write to you not to do so before that time." A transcription is included.
