National Florence Crittenton Mission
Description
This folder contains materials created/collected by the National Florence Crittenton Mission (NFCM), which was chartered by Congress in 1898. Florence Crittenton homes were maternity homes and hospitals established in cities throughout the U. S. and Canada to provide residential care for unmarried mothers and their children and to undertake preventive and protective work for young girls. This folder specifically contains materials relating to a survey of Crittenton homes, presentation of plans for FCHA to Crittenton homes, responses of individual Crittenton homes to joining FCHA, and issues of local autonomy over the admission of African American girls to Crittenton homes.
