Description

A group of orphan children, both white and African American, are seen here during their annual outing at Riverside Park in 1924. The event, sponsored by the Elks, was one of the many charitable events that they sponsored. The Indianapolis Newsboys Band is also in attendance at the event. Riverside Park was an amusement park located on West 30th Street at White River, with roller coasters, games, and food concessions. The original nitrate negative was copied with funds provided by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission in 1990. This digital image was created from that copy. The copy prints and negatives are stored in Microfiche Number order. The Interpositives are stored in PAN number order.
