This Rick Adelman basketball card is number 27 in a series of 264 manufactured by the Topps Company Inc. for the 1973-1974 National Basketball Association season. The front of the card features a posed image of the Portland Trail Blazer guard dribbling a basketball. On the reverse, a small cartoon illustrates the fact that “Rick suffered a cracked jaw in his rookie season in the NBA” at the top of the card. Below is Adelman’s physical and career information, a short player biography, and career statistics.Adelman was the 79th pick in the 1968 NBA draft by the San Diego Rockets. After two years playing for the Rockets, Adelman spent three years with the Portland Trail Blazers. His final two NBA seasons were spent playing for the Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Jazz and Kansas City-Omaha Kings. After his playing days ended in 1975, Adelman would go on to serve as the head coach of the Trail Blazers, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
