This folder contains records reflecting the ALF-CIO's efforts to increase membership involvement in such community health, welfare, and recreation programs as blood banks, counselling and referral services, or strike assistance, including a significant amount of correspondence with Homer Harper, Birmingham, Alabama, CSA representative, regarding that city’s decision to terminate surplus foods program in response to African American boycott of downtown merchants.
