Diggs, James R. L

Description

Proposing a project to write on the educated negro and the history of reconstruction, Diggs writes that at least 10 volumes will be written on the reconstruction period in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas. The idea has been presented to Mr. J. W. Cromwell of Washington who would like to participate, and Diggs suggests inviting John R. Lynch, Dr. Theophilus G. Steward, and General Robert Smalls to work on the project. Notes separately that Diggs intends to meet the Niagara Men in August my all means. Written on stationery of The Virginia Theological Seminary and College.
