Description

Construction of the giant Ferris, or Observation, wheel, which first appeared at Chicago's 1893 Columbian Exposition, for the Louisiana Purchase Exposition -- the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair -- continues in early May 1904. A major attraction of the fair, the Ferris wheel's 36 cars could each seat 60 people. The cars awaiting installation can be seen at the base of the wheel. No. 4543.
