Description
Joel M. Abels, editor and publisher of Travel Trade Publications, offers his views regarding the Poor People's Campaign in Washington, D.C., and its effect on tourism and travel there. Abels says that Washington, D.C., lost more than half of its tourist business due to Resurrection City, the encampment that the Poor People's Campaign set up along the streets of the capital in March. Travelers to Washington, D.C., consider Virginia part of a single trip, thus Abel estimates that Virginia also lost a large portion of its tourist economy.
