In this 1978 WSB-TV newsfilm clip from Atlanta, Georgia, baseball player Hank Aaron speaks about Ben Garrity, his former manager at Jacksonville, Florida, and the advantages he afforded Aaron as a young baseball player. He states that Garrity provided the encouragement and experience that Aaron needed to develop as a young player. Aaron then discusses his experience as one of the very few African American player in the South Atlantic League. He recalls that, in spite of the racism he encountered from others, Garrity gave him more support than anyone Aaron "had ever played for or against."
