Malcolm X addressed a crowd of 200 Black Muslims at the Elks Lodge at 40th Street and Central Avenue. During the rally, two men picketed the meeting on behalf of the Hollywood Race Relations Bureau. Malcolm X asked the police to remove the two picketers, but his request was denied. In response, Malcolm X replied, "we will not be responsible."
