Van Rensalaer, Thomas
Description
Holograph, signed.Thomas Van Rensalaer believes that some of the men in the anti-slavery ranks will not be satisfied until William Lloyd Garrison is annihilated. Van Rensalaer did not "think the non resistance principal would produce such a state of feeling as it has in the profess Friends of the oppressed." Three months ago it was proposed to send Van Rensalaer to Liberia to investigate the "state of the Colonists," but an objection was raised on the grounds that he had adopted William Lloyd Garrison's "no government" doctrine.
