Description

Ossie B. Purifoy was born in Andalusia, Alabama, in 1914. At the time this image of him was taken he was employed with the Atlanta Life Insurance Company, a Mobile, Alabama-based, African-American firm. Purifoy was also very active with the local black, civil rights group, the Non-Partisan Voters League. Purifoy died in Mobile in 2005.
