The men and women of the Committee for Curtis W. Hopkins at the Calvary (Missionary) Baptist Church pose in dresses and suits at the church around 1960. Curtis Hopkins, an African American man, was being held in the Lucas County , Ohio jail awaiting extradition to Mississippi for a rape charge. Many felt that Hopkins would not get a fair trial in 1960-era Mississippi and were fighting his extradition.
