Description

Photograph of Anne Shore, national executive secretary of the Civil Rights Congress (CRC), standing at a podium. Shore appears to be chairing a meeting, because there is a gavel on the podium, as well as a microphone. The man seated at the left behind Shore is William Patterson, national executive director of the CRC. During its existence from 1946 to 1956, the CRC fought for and established numerous civil rights and liberties rulings that expanded the rights of U.S. citizens.
