Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on white paper. The date "Aug 5" is written in pencil in the top right corner of the letter. The number "48" is also written in pencil in the top left corner of the spine.William P. Weeks writes to Amos A. Phelps regarding reports concerning Phelps which have reached Canaan. He asks Phelps why he did not see him when he was in Concord. He would have called upon him and welcomed him in his "pretty little house." He writes about an academy opening up in Canaan to admit "black children on an equality with the whites." Abolitionists are to be made trustees of this academy [Noyes Academy]. He informs Phelps of a meeting for the Trustees which will be held on "the first Wednesday of September Next" and he desires Phelps to be there to "aid in giving a proper Tone to Publick sentiment."
