Description

Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Chester Wright writes to William Lloyd Garrison sending him "some copies of the last Report of the Ver[mont] Col[onization] Soc[iety] in which you will learn my views of the Am[erican] Col[onization] Soc[iety] & of its adversaries." Wright suggests Garrison include it in the Liberator written "in the spirit required in the command of Jesus Christ," suggesting that "if more of this spirit were manifested in the Liberator the cause it advocates would gain more friends". Wright then stresses Garrison's "responsibility as an Editor is great" and his impact "will go down to generations yet unborn & it will be felt forever." He tells Garrison to ask himself, "Can the spirit which the Liberator breathes ever enter Heaven?"
