This folder contains a variety of materials relating to Greenville, Mississippi, during Freedom Summer. It includes the following: Affidavits. A letter from Louis Grant to "Charles," discussing his encounter with the local sheriff upon his arrival in town. A list of the vehicles and license plate numbers seen frequently driving by Freedom House or by demonstrations. A list of harrassing phone calls to the Greenville COFO office; threats on the street, on plantations, and in private businesses; and arrests. A research report on ownership of Greenville banks and businesses. A report on a Democratic Party precinct meeting and members, of an unsuccessful attempt in 1963 to set up a bi-racial committee reporting to the Greenville city council to try to break down segregation, and of the rise of the KKK and the White Citizens Council in Greenville.
