Description
Defending his attitudes towards art and attesting to the pride that "the colored people of America" take in her work; describing various reasons to do with lack of funding that do not directly reflect on the value of her art; remarking generally on the pitfalls of philanthropy; sympathizing with her situation generously, but reminding her not to "blame the colored people of the United States. We are still curiously helpless."
