Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in ink on white paper. In the head- spine corner there is an embossed logo of two horses around a crest, and a checkmark has been drawn over the logo in pencil. Just under the salutation, the number "93" has been written in pencil, while beneath the date on the fore side of the page, the phrase "see Lib. 24:123" has also been written in pencil. Along the spine edge, the phrase "V24, P90" has been written in pencil vertically, facing the fore edge.James Redpath writes to William Lloyd Garrison informing him that he will send his "letters on Southern Slavery" to the Liberator office tomorrow. Redpath states that he is presenting them to Garrison as he "opposed slavery when it was a question of life [and] death." He asks Garrison to keep his identity a secret and publish the letters under the name "John Ball, Jr," as well as requesting some copies of the Liberator be sent to a number of other people.
