Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on blue, lined paper with an embossed oval logo in the head- spine corner. Below the salutation, the number "90" has been drawn in pencil. On the verso, along the spine edge, the phrase "Hopeful Toler, Washington, Aug. 2 146." has been written in ink, vertically, facing the fore edge of the page.Cataloged sgellermanHopeful Toler writes to Amos A. Phelps informing him about plans for Ann [the daughter of a friend]. Toler agrees that "it might be wise for her to be temporarily taken care of by some good hearted friend like yourself" and suggests that he take her with him to New York.
