Clemon also served as chief judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, and before that distinguished himself as a student, a civil rights activist, a lawyer, a state senator, and a civic and church leader.The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
