Description

James H. Schneider, an 1860 graduate of Yale College, joined the faculty of the State Normal School at Bridgewater as first assistant to the principal Albert G. Boyden in September 1860. He was drafted into the Union Army in 1863, where he served as chaplain in the Second Regiment of the United States Colored Troops. Schneider contracted yellow fever while his regiment was stationed in Florida; he died in April 1864.[photographed by] David T. BurrellJames H. Schneider, seated.
