Description
In the message Shuttlesworth protests the dismissal of Dr. Lawrence D. Reddick from Alabama State College, and he criticizes the governor's suggestion that Dr. H. Councill Trenholm be removed from his position as president of the school: "To purge President Trenholm after he dismissed students on your order is valid evidence that there are no real rewards for acquiescing in or cooperating with segregation either willingly or under compulsion."
