Photograph taken about 1940 of the interior of the Enoch Pratt Free Library Branch number 12 in Baltimore, Maryland. In the picture a large group of school children including many African Americans are visiting the branch. A librarian is helping the children as circulation desk clerk checks out books. Displayed on the checkout counter is a copy of the 1940 book entitled How to Get into Aviation by John B. Walker. [Editor's note: Branch 12 of the Enoch Pratt Free Library was originally located on the corner of Carroll and W. Barre Streets. The area is currently served by the Washington Village Branch, located at 856 Washington Blvd.]
