Description

In this WSB newsfilm clip from April 25, 1967, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. expresses his belief that a coalition of blacks and white liberals could lead to the election of a black president at a press conference held at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.Dr. King begins by stating that he believes that many African Americans are capable of serving as president, but they have been "held out of the political arena" because of prejudice and racism. He asserts that, in the future, African Americans acting in "a coalition with liberals in the white community" will vote in numbers high enough to elect a black president.
