Description

Photograph taken looking north at the east side of the 200 block South Caroline Street between Gough and East Pratt Streets in Baltimore, Maryland. This block, which consists of two- and three-story brick row houses, including vacant stores on the ground level of some buildings, is scheduled for demolition as part of a slum clearance program. On the right, a bare wall shows where a building has already been torn down, and on the front wall is a notice from the Housing Authority of Baltimore City. On the left, midway down the street, is a horse-drawn wagon. The only other vehicle on the street is a car at the far end of the block. Tracks are embedded in the cobblestone roadway, and electric lines for streetcars are suspended above the center of the street. (Waldeck photograph 46.)
